I need a way to stay updated quickly on trends in *Business* IT and tech — does anyone have blogs they recommend for this? I’m not looking for consumer (e.g. ipods) or promotional blogs (e.g. Microsoft) but resources that summarize or give news on what’s going on in Business IT. Thank you!

I’ll be glad if you be kind and help me with my Career Studies Course’s project. The question is, what does labour market information report about future trends for E-Business Consulting?

for any labour market information or reports you’d have to check with the government as they do all the data preparing. If you’re looking for trends then perhaps a magazine like the Wall Street Journal or Forbes Magazine (for which they would want a fee) would have what you want or need. I can only tell you about "past" trends in e-business consulting from personal experience and that anything with an "e" means international and in international not everyone thinks the same, can make the same plans, have the same choices, and international businesses are run differently than ours. Then there is also the problem of payment, contract between you and the person you consult for their business, and the difference of what they think are worthwhile ideas or not. I found that internationals always thought there was a kid (who me?) on the other end of the emessage, didn’t take my credentials seriously, and they refused to sign a contract, and in the end I got stiffed (no money from all my hard work). So I’d think the way to change that would be using psychology in the consulting you do in that just as a therapist would let the person figure out what their own problem is then perhaps a contract would work if what they thought worked did work. ??? The next problem is how to get paid. How can one get paid if there is no trust (between persons or nations) going on? So in my opinion there is no hope for ebusiness consulting internationally. And from within my own country they don’t believe in it over the net. Once a connection is made there needs to be private investigation as to if both are on the level, and a contract, and a checking to see if there is money in their account to pay you, then a determination of which means to pay and an agreement on same.

How do changing social trends and new technology effect supermarket business for better or for worse?

If a supermarket keeps up with the trends it can benefit if it fall behind it can lose business.

I don’t get a newspaper anymore. I get my news online. I either get supermarket ads online or via the mail. Sometimes I check the ads online before I go shopping.

I not a fan of coupons, but I do like e-coupons that you can access and use via your smart phone; but my local market does not support this although the chain it belongs to does.

I can order online but not from my local market.

Business help! (Statistical trends) :S?

‘Use up to date graphs and tables to illustrate the statistical trends within this industrial sector (Tertiary). Try and use output and employment figures.’
Help?! I don’t understand what I need to do? I don’t get what its asking :S

The tertiary sector is the providing of GOODS AND SERVICES sector. E.g., supermarkets and retail.

Primary – Raw materials (farming)
Secondary – Manufacturing (Factories)
Tertiary – Selling of goods and services

Your teacher wants you to comment on the tertiary sector of your country (I’m assuming youre from the US or UK). Both countries are importing countries that operate primarily in the tertiary sector (meaning that most people are employed by jobs that sell goods and services – as oppose to countries like China and India which operate mainly in the primary and secondary sector and exports).
They want you to look at sales figures in your country and employment figures and write about it, e.g., how much of the countries income is generated from sales, how many people are employed in the tertiary sector etc.
