I’m doing some research on the consumer trends of Vietnamese people – and I’m trying to figure out why they love mopeds/scooters/bikes?
Because they’re cheap?
Because they’re cheap?

Vietnamese people, generally speaking, do not have much money. Mopeds and bikes are cheap, easy on gas, and easy to store. What is more, outside the bigger cities, many villages do not have wide roads. It’s just practical transportation for them.

I agree with Mr. T, the Vietnamese use scooters/mopeds because of economics, plus the fact, imagine a small road jam packed with cars, you can fit many more bikes, ect. in a small area than you can cars. As you study/research, you will find that their who economic situation is more about survival than frivolous wants. I do not know exact figures, but I am sure they have higher energy costs than US.
So in light of this, I doubt seriously whether they actually "Love" them, I imagine they ‘love’ the freedom, and the ability to be more mobile!

Cars came to Vietnam a few yrs ago so they haven’t had enough time to go cheap. Meanwhile, bikes are cheap, fuel efficient and extremely convenient. Besides, Vietnamese aren’t the most richest…race.

This is coming from a son of a Vietnamese man. Believe me.
