what are the challenges, opportunities and global trends of independent films?

I do a lot of work in video and film. And the biggest challenge is getting people to see your work. From the stand point of, it cost money to market and distribute the film. I have had this feeling for a long time that independent films are going to start being the movies people want to see. For the simple reason that the storys,the actors and actress are untouched by the greed of hollywood.
