I had a question about meteorology and was wondering how temperature and dew point trends affect relative humidity. Does an increase or decrease in temp. affect relative humidity? how about dew points?
When the dew point and the temperature are the same, the relative humidity is 100%. When the temperature goes up, relative humidity goes down. When the temperature goes down, the relative humidity goes up. The closer the temp is to the dew point, the higher the relative humidity. The dew point is very rarely over 80, so that is why relative humidity goes down when temps go up.

If the difference between the temperature and the dew point temperaure increases ,the relative humidity(RH) decreases and vice versa.If both are the same,the relative humidity is 100 %.If you are keeping the temperature constant and increasing the dew point temperature(by adding moisture to the air),the RH also increases;decreasing the dew point(by removing moisture) will decrease the RH.
On the other hand if you are keeping,by some means, the dewpoint temperature constant and increase the temperature,the RH will decrease;decreasing the temperature will increase the RH.
