What where some cultral trends or events that affected Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone book release?

What where some trends when the book first came out. I have to write an english paper over the impact of the book and this is a small part of it, but I cant find anything about it.

Well, I think that Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone/Philosopher’s Stone really impacted America by introducing Great Britian’s culture, even though they are not that much different. Example:
Saying "mum" instead of "mom"

There’s many more examples though. Also, the book really impacted the way we evaluate literature. Children’s books were not popular and never made New York Times best sellers. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone made it on the top 10 list, and when the other Potter books were released, they broke all records and knocked down adult novels from the list. The New York Times had to create a whole other list for bestselling children’s books because of Harry Potter.

Hope this helps!
